WARRANTY

8/28/2002

Warranty Information   A simple easy to understand warranty. Read on.

Palm Trees Computers Guarantees quality products and workmanship for one full year from date of purchase.

Service Warranty.

All service / network work done on-site is covered for 7 DAYS  from the date of the original visit. If the same problem reoccurs during that time we will always fix it at no additional charge to you. If a recommended solution is not accepted by the client at the time of the original visit, then all warranties are "AS IS" Such recommended solutions may include, but are not limited to, removal of software, removal of hardware, restoration of operating system. If a future problem arises and is fixable by one of recommended solutions then no warranty coverage will apply to subsequent visits. (This is the "I told you so factor...sorry")

Our goal is to make sure you are happy. If a problem arises, it is the clients responsibility to contact PTC and inform us immediately of any problems or issues.  We are good, we are not clairvoyant.

Parts Warranty.

If during the first year of ownership a component fails or is damaged during ordinary use, Palm Tree Computers will replace the defective part at no cost to the client. The Client, that's you, will first phone Palm Tree Computers and arrange for the part to be returned to us. We will then reorder the same product and have it drop shipped directly to your door. If the original part is not returned, client will become responsible for the cost of the part plus shipping and a 10% annoyance fee. (we will do our part but you have to do yours too)

Parts not covered by warranty include those which were damaged by client while performing manual manipulation of the part. ( If you tear a video card out and damage the chipset, we aren't liable for that) or inadvertent damage caused by client working on their own machine. (You use a screwdriver to pry out a stick of memory and damage the motherboard or socket, we are not responsible for that either).

Also, if you have added, changed or played around with key settings and parts. (i.e. flashing your bios and ending up with a dead machine, putting in incompatible memory, installed a hard drive that your motherboard can't read, etc) Palm Tree Computers can not be held responsible for that. Call us and ask us if something you want to do will work with your system before you void your warranty please!! We are only a phone call or email away and if we say , yeah go ahead and the thing fires out your video  card or motherboard, then we will be responsible, ok) This does not mean that if something goes wrong you automatically get a new computer, more likely, free help in repairing what is broken. Remember, if we didn't break it, we can only be responsible for  what we did, not what you did.. fair enough.

Generally speaking, if a part is installed as it was delivered to you and it fails for whatever reason, we will replace it. this does not mean you can open your case and set your computer out on the porch and expect us to fix anything that goes wrong with it. Get the point?

Software warranty

All software is guaranteed to be of legal issue and certificates of authenticity will be provided to the client when the system is delivered. All software is warranteed as is. That means that if you hack your registry, play with the configuration settings, expose yourself to viruses, listen to an isp help desk tech who tells you to modify a system file or use incompatible third party software you are on your own. We guarantee that you have a fully functional operating system and whatever software you choose upon delivery.  We will warranty all software we install, however we can not guarantee that any future third party software you purchase and install on your own will work or be compatible. This applies to games, cameras, scanners, printers, etc  as well as other products. There is no way of us knowing what future software will or won't work, we aren't the great Kreskin. We will work with you to determine if any software you want to install would fall under the recommended or approved software list for your particular machine. ( Basically if the new products labels says Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, , NT or XP compatible it should work.)

We can not warranty against something that you or someone else does to your system once it is out of our control. (Face it, if we locked down your system so you could not change anything, you would hate the inflexibility you would have)

Labor Warranty

Labor is limited to initial workmanship, delivery and setup. If the computer fails because we failed to tighten the screws on a motherboard, that's covered. If you put the computer in the back of your truck and go race in the Baja 500 and parts get shaken loose , that is your responsibility. in the metro phoenix area, the technician who built your computer will provide in house repairs if they are covered by this agreement at no additional charge.

Internet etc

We only recommend internet service to people, we do not actually provide the service itself. If you have a particular ISP in mind we will be glad to set up your existing account for your prior to delivery. If you need new service, we will give you our opinions of the dial up and broadband/dsl options available. We will not agree or sign you up without you being present to "ok" the deal. Billing and service problems are strictly between you and your provider. If you have questions about services provided by your isp, please contact them prior to having us set up and configure you system. It'll save us all alot of headaches.

One last word.

We cite some of the examples of things that will void your warranty only because all of those things actually happened!! A computer is not a Tonka truck so don't treat it like one. if something breaks or fails and the computer has been sitting in your office for the last six months and nothing else has changed, of course we will fix it.

Remember we believe the custom in custom computers refers to customer satisfaction and customer service.

We do warranty work on site at no additional cost.. if you computer needs to come into the shop, we can always find you a loaner... try getting that from Dell or Gateway.

All warranty work is preformed by the same technician who built the system ( unless of course they have gone sailing or died....rarely happens)
